Virus Found In Adobe Premiere Elements
Norton Internet Security Virus Identification
Adobe Fan
I have always been a big fan of Adobe products. I have been since the mid 1990's. In fact, I have been using Adobe Photoshop to do all of my graphic design work for years. Because of my loyalty and commitment to Adobe products, I thought I would explore another one of their fine photo management and enhancement products; Adobe Photoshop Elements.
I downloaded the trial version of the product, installed it, and tried it for a while. While it does has some very nice features for photo editing and such, it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Fair enough though, it was only a trial anyway. Nothing gained, nothing lost.
But then...
After uninstalling the trial version of Adobe Premiere Elements 9, I proceeded to run a routine security scan of my computer using Norton Internet Security 2011, and to my dismay I discovered that one of the data files used to install Adobe Premiere Elements 9 contained a virus.
Virus Removed
Where the virus was found
Upon detection of the virus, Norton Internet Security 2011 quickly quarantined, and subsequently removed the corrupted file (see image above).
I'm not posting this page to dissuade you from using Adobe products. After all, Adobe does make some incredible products like Photoshop. I'm simply saying to be careful, make sure you purchase, install, and maintain a high quality security software product such as Norton Internet Security.
Quite honestly, with the way things fly around the internet these days, there's no telling how that virus ended up in one of Adobe's installation packages. Additionally, recall that this was from a "trial" version of the software. It is my experience that the best way to make sure you get "clean" software is to avoid so-called "free" software, use trial software with caution, and most importantly, buy your software. Purchased software always comes with support and integrity. Remember the ultimate motto... "You get what you pay for". When you pay nothing, you get nothing.
